Where We Are and Where It's Going

Here's where we are. The first version of main1 is done. The first version of main2 is being worked on, but almost done. We are also working on the vmain server.

What is possible now? Well, e-mail works, I'm proud to say. And SSH works and the other remote protocols. Now the whole network website should be pretty stable, as the Internal services are stored as a web page on the main1 server. Not real impressive, but this is the basics needed for the network to work. main2 is also necessary for the network to work.

What will the completion of the vmain server mean? It will mean I have the basic infrastructure to create the virtual servers. Why do we care about virtual servers? This is the main power of the network. But we are learning the technical details of how to make them work.

So what will be possible in the future? Well, I see various things, such as being able to have personal web pages, and being able to log onto game and application servers and do work. It'd be nice to also have the Public News Service back up and running again too.
